Part & Parcel is the latest dub-come-punk-come-reggae offering from The Skints. They’re about to come in for a lot of praise…
It’s no surprise to find the band embedded in contemporary reggae and ska culture. They’ve spliced the traditional upstroke tranquility with a stonking wedge of bass and dubstep. It’s a postmodern musical cocktail, being lapped up en masse.
Having caught The Skints a few times on the live scene, it’s pleasing to know that the tempered havoc they bring along has survived the digital switchover. Part & Parcel is an album that captures the souls of its masters, and releases them unto us unblemished and uncontaminated.
I’ve made it this far without the obvious summery comparisons. But it’s the first sunny Sunday of 2012, so I’m going to crack open a cold one, kick back and take in the delights of a band who never fail to please…
