If you’re hoping for a typically frantic, light hearted, humourous ska punk record in Candy Coated Fury, then you are definitely going to be satisfied. If you are hoping for anything else then you can stop reading…now.
CCF is similar to the band’s first two albums with its energy and sarcastic sense of homour and this will be warmly welcomed by many of the bands older fans. Opener ‘Everyone Else is an Asshole’ typifies this and sets the tone for the rest of the album. However, RBF do change it up a bit with groovy reggae track ‘Hiding In My Headphones’ which features Laila and Barney from Sonic Boom Six.
Yes Reel Big Fish are keeping well inside their comfort zone on CCF, but why does this have to be a bad thing? They are doing what they do best; having fun making music and slapping smiles across peoples faces in the process. Happy days!
